Holmenkollen ski jump

* The new Holmenkollen ski jump has a hill size of 134 (HS 134/K 120).

* The ski jump has a new 120 m2 tourist platform and 100 m2 start house. With see-through walls the tourist platform ensures a magnificent view of the city.

* The new inrun is partially cladded and as the first ski jump, Holmenkollen has a permanent windscreen solution, which will protect the athletes from up to 50 % of the winds, is about 10 meters high and is woven from high quality steel.

* Two lifts brings the athletes up to the start house. One chair lift from the bottom of the ski jump and then a cabin lift following the inrun up to the start house. The cabin lift also takes visitors to the tourist platform.

* The spectator stands consist of seats for 20 000 spectators and 10 000 more will be able to fit on terrain based stands.

The judges’ tower and royal grand stand are situated on the sides of the ski jump. The judges’ tower is about 270 m2 while the royal grand stand is slightly smaller with its 220 m2, though it also has a roof top terrace at about 75 m2.

* The inrun and related elements such as the judges’ tower and royal grand stand, are built as an integrated construction as proposed by JDS Architects in the design contest. This means that the windscreen solution follows the entire inrun from the top down to the royal grand stand and judges’ tower. This gives the ski jump a completed look architecturally speaking.

* Some of the components which have been demolished before the reconstruction are: inrun construction, knoll shell, elements of the spectator stands, judges’ tower, royal grand stand, commentator booths and the scene construction at the bottom of the onrun. The pond known as Besserudtjernet has been drained and any water from rain etc now runs through a pipeline down to a water reservoir in Midtstuen.

* Construction work on the new Holmenkollen ski jump began early December 2008 after the old inrun was demolished that same fall.
